Pet Law
Animal law and pet law are very diverse practice areas. At Rick Stock Law, we represent individuals relating to all aspects of human and animal interactions. With our extensive experience in civil litigation, family law, landlord tenant law, criminal law, business law and estate planning, we can handle any matter involving animals such as
- dealing with Americans with Disability and Fair housing statutes
- animal cruelty, neglect, exploitation
- consumer protection in the sale and treatment of animals
- leash laws
- landowner liability
- debt collection for boarding
- and pet trusts
Rick Stock Law strongly believes in emotional support and service animals and will do everything possible to keep them in your home. There are laws that protect renters whose landlords have neglected to include a pet clause in the lease. There are legal protections afforded to support and service animals, regardless of breed, weight or size.
We can also help you ensure that your beloved furry family member can be well cared for after your death by establishing a pet trust. A pet trust is a legal arrangement set up to provide care for a pet after the death of its owner. A pet trust allows the owner to hold property in a trust for the benefit of the animal and set guidelines for how the pet is to be taken care of. The pet trust provides peace of mind by allowing you to establish a mean for the health, maintenance, support and housing of your pet. These matters cannot be handled with a Last Will and Testament because of the animal’s inability to inherit assets.
Rick Stock Law is also able to defend your pet in case of an incident involving injury to another person, such as a dog bite. You have the right to defend your pet and your pet deserves the best defense. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call at 484-272-5133.
